The four main aims of Families for a Secure Future are to assist individuals and their families to:
Events that offer an opportunity to learn on a certain theme, share stories; network with other families, learn what other family groups are doing; reflect on the what has been happening within the organization over the year and set the direction for the next year.
Host Family Leadership Series Workshops:
Organize and host regional/provincial workshops where families meet others who are part of Families for a Secure Future as well as community members that come out solely for the training.
Forward Regular Information Bulletins:
Broadcast regular email messages to individuals and families to keep them informed of news and events that may be of interest to them.
Make Available Relevant Articles to Download on the Website:
Research and make available relevant articles for individuals and their families to download from the website.
Acquire and Lend out Educational Resources:
There are currently three families who are operating a lending library out of their homes. This entails loaning and keeping track of books and audio visual resources.
Offer Specific Training to Board Members:
Provide training in capacities needed for participating on the Board
Sponsor Members to attend Training Events:
Sponsor individuals and family members to attend training that will benefit them in their role as mentors to other individuals and families.
Assist Family Groups to Apply for Funding:
Assist families to apply to funding sources to further their groups objectives and in so doing create capacity and leadership among the members. Research available financial resources: Keep abreast of provincial funding sources currently available and research into other new sources.
Facilitate access to funding sources:
